Uses :

The fleshy fruits are eaten by many species of birds. Trees are also planted as landscaping plants.

This is a very rapidly growing tree and may be planted where shade tree grow is desired in a short period of time. The numerous seeds dropped near the tree readily germinate and become a nuisance in lawns and flower beds. It may be rare as a native and more abundant as an escape from cultivation.
