This web page was
created to provide access to library courses offered by
Professor Judith J. Johnson.
It also provides access to the Association of College
& Research Libraries' College Level Standards for Information
Literacy.
Professor Johnson
has a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Peabody Conservatory
of Music which is part of Johns Hopkins University.
She has a Master's
Degree in Music from the University of Miami, and a second
Master's degree in Library and Information Science from
Florida State University.
Professor Johnson also has a Ph. D. in Humanities
from Florida State University majoring in Asian Humanities
with an emphasis on China.
Professor Johnson
has worked as a music librarian at the University of Miami's
Music Library in Coral Gables, Florida.
She has also worked as a librarian at Buffalo State
University College and the Albright-Knox Art Museum Library,
both in Buffalo, New York.
She has been a
music librarian and Head of the Catalog Department at the
University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.
At FCCJ she has served the Libraries in various Administrative
and Faculty roles.
She is currently the Library Chairperson for FCCJ's
South Campus Library where her background in the arts and
humanities is put to work on a daily basis.
Professor Johnson
takes particular pride in the role she has played in the
development of Florida's Community Colleges' statewide plan
for library automation
which culminated in the development of the College
Center for Library Automation and the Library Information
Network for Community Colleges, our statewide library automation
system. For
these efforts Professor Johnson received the Florida Association
of Community Colleges' Learning Resources Commission Special
Achievement Award, the District Board of Trustees of Florida
Community College at Jacksonville's Gold Star Award and
the "LINCC at 10" Award "for insight, vision
and commitment in the formation of CCLA and LINCC"
from the Florida Community College System.
The LINCC system continues to provide all of the
colleges with a strong foundation in library automation,
online information retrieval and support for distance learning.
